My Grandpa established a tradition years ago for the grand children and great-grand children. When someone turns five years old, we hike over Axe Handle outside of McGill, NV. Because there are so many of us, it's really an annual gathering. Here are a few pictures from our most recent get-together.
We took Bella on the hike to see how she would do. I believe the hike is approximately 4 miles and the first half is relatively steep. This translates to approximately 1,800 miles for our little dog. She was a champ, but needed a little break, so my Dad put her in his backpack and carried her for a while.
We all gather at the same dead tree for a family picture every year. Since Justin is the photography guru, he's the picture taker. We also buried a container with a variety of things, most notably the notebook recording everyone's name since the hike began years ago.
Part of the crew packing up at the end of the hike to head to the campsite at Timber Creek for the rest of the day.
Jessica and Carter enjoyed the swing near the campground.
Carter found plenty of things to entertain himself with.
Watch out Nolan Ryan! This kid has a big time arm.
My Dad and his twin Brother, Kent.
May I help you??
